PIERCING AFTERCARE

Non-oral Piercings
Before cleaning your piercing, wash your hands (preferably with dial). Next, dilute 1/2
teaspoon of sea salt in an 8oz. cup of bath warm water. If possible put the cup up to the
piercing and soak for thirty seconds, otherwise use a cotton ball and saturate the piercing,
making sure that all debris on the jewelry is rinsed off. Then rotate the jewelry through the
piercing to ensure that the sea salt solution reaches the inside. Repeat this 2-3X a day
for the amount of time specified for your piercing. Do not turn or play with jewelry with
dirty hands or when you are not cleaning it, doing so may result in keliods (ugly bumps)
on your piercing. Although severe infections are not common, if an infection should occur
in a nasal or genital piercing please call us and consult your doctor. Do not use any type
of ointment on your piercing - this may cause an infection. And as always, feel free to call
us with any questions!

Oral Piercings
Rinse your piercing with Listerine after anything you consume except water. Sucking on ice
may be helpful in reducing the swelling that occurs in oral piercings. Use sea salt as written
above if a part of your piercing is outside of your mouth (i.e. lip, monroe, etc.). Oral piercings
are usually among the most rapid healing, however, if an infection should occur please call
us and consult your doctor. And as always, feel free to call us with any questions!
